Project X - Brother

Brother

The thirteenth Project X figure

September, 2011

This one is another of my favourites, though I have to say if were to make him again I wouldn't use a spring for the neck. The sushi I made at the start of 2010 when I first started playing with home made salt dough, they're coated in yacht varnish so they lasted quite nicely. The blades are just two dull scalpel blades, it was upon addition of these that I decided he should be a sushi chef.

Project X - Diablo

Diablo

The twelfth Project X figure

August, 2011

Not my favourite, I have to be honest. He was a very quick make and to be honest more work went into painting him than sculpting him. He's inspired by the mask San wears when she first appears in Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke.

I hate that you can see UNILITE® written across his mask, which is clearly just a metal hood off a disposable lighter..

Project X - Hades

Hades

The tenth Project X figure

August, 2011

This is easily my favourite Deadweald Deity. I carved the chess board from one block of hardened clay I'd wasted in a previous attempt to do something and painted the entire board before gluing Hades down, covering most of it.The tiny chess pieces are from a 1:12 set I bought from eBay, presumably intended for a dollshouse.

I have never taken him to Camden, not even for display as I don't want to risk breaking him, his arms are tiny!

Project X - Die, X, Die!!

Die, X, Die!!

July, 2011
Collaborative work with GaZombie 24

Sculpted by James and painted by yours truly, this little X was knocked up between us during a rainy day inbetween main figures. Interestingly, this was the first figure to demonstrate that these creatures' blood and guts are all silver, which I'm sure had been the subject of many rows previously.

Project X - Ramuh

Ramuh

The ninth Project X figure

26 June, 2011

I didn't really know where I was going with this one until I started making the head, during which it began to look like some statue of a Greek or Roman god, so I decided to go with it. The.. things protruding from his face a air-sacs of sorts, in a real specimen they would inflate and deflate as the creature breathes.

Project X - Inari

Inari

The eighth Project X figure

June, 2011

Based on Inari, the Japanese god of rice (more literally food in general, but in Japanese rice and food are the same word) this figure was intended to look like a fox but later earned the nickname 'the sheep' because, well, .. I don't know why.

This figure was sold at our last Camden Market stall, for the grand sum of £10.

Project X - Ifrit

Ifrit

The seventh Project X figure

June, 2011

Again, one I'm not sure how I gathered the inspiration for, he was originally only supposed to be holding a cigarette, a pistol and a pair of sunglasses. The shades were later substituted with a rocket launcher, which I felt was a fair trade and didn't make me a Colin.

There are some photos further down of the pistol and rocket launcher on their own as I made them individually afterwards to fit the hands, they were removable.. this guy was just too fragile and no amount of padding could save him from the trip to Camden and back!

Also, here are some photos of Ifrit as a work in progress, since I chanced to take some..

Project X - Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh

The sixth Project X figure

30 May, 2011

I started work on this figure immediately after finishing The Fly, as it was intended to be a worker or some sort of warrior fly. I angled the arms in a really stupid position however and for ages couldn't think of a way out, until it occurred to me to just cover them in a cloak and put him in an action pose..
